Carbon dioxide, often experienced as “stuffy air,” was found to be outside recommended levels in almost half (45%) of all homes tested in a recent survey on indoor air quality.

A common by-product of breathing and combustion, carbon dioxide can affect alertness and cause fatigue. Common sources of combustion include: fireplaces, gas stoves, water heaters, HVAC equipment, and candles.

High levels of carbon dioxide often indicate improper or ineffective ventilation, which also leads to unhealthy levels of other indoor air pollutants.
